Etiology
Hypothyrodism is often associated with vertigo [Starr2005, pg 115].Hypotheses
In some cases, it has been noted that trigger points in the sternocleidomastoid (SCM) muscles are associated with vertigo. It has been suggested that proprioceptors in these muscles help the balance centers of the brain determine head position, and that hypothyroidism can disrupt proper muscle function [Kraus1988; Travell1983; Starr2005, pg 128].ICD-9 Codes
